Luke David Engesath arrived on Monday, December 8th. He weighed a very healthy 8 lbs, 2 oz. and was 21 inches long. The picture above was taken when he was a day and a half old - he's pretty photogenic, we think :) Matt and I are so blessed to have this sweet little boy!!
Tuffy is thrilled with the new addition. Actually, he is warming up to him more and more every day.
Since it's 3 AM and I apparently don't have the sense or ability to sleep while I supposedly "can", thought I'd finally update my blog. Above is a double-whammy; my large belly can be appreciated while also enjoying my new very-short-for-me haircut. I've been told the hair makes me look like a mom now, which I'm not sure is a great thing but I'll take it. I am 36 weeks tomorrow; it's SO hard to believe. I still feel very good during the day and very uncomfortable at night, so I think that's pretty great considering I've heard so many stories about how rough I should feel all the time. I have been so blessed during this pregnancy, and I actually have mixed feelings about it ending! Oh, and the nursery is now super close to being mostly done (which is what I'm settling for) so I'll post pictures soon!
I had two baby showers this month. In the pic above are my Nashville shower hostesses who gave quite the lovely party for baby Luke. Thank you Meridy, Stephanie, Michelle, Katie, Laura and Nicole! The picture below is from my shower in my hometown of LaFayette, GA. Matt's grandmother and Aunt Nancy flew in from Ft. Lauderdale to attend. Also pictured is my sister-in-law Lexi who lives in Chattanooga. It was so fun, and Luke was very well-showered for the month of October :)
Thank you to all who have been so very generous to us!!!
A lot has happened the past couple of weeks. Matt and I spent last week in Washington D.C. with my parents - our last trip until after we have a little baby. It was Matt's first trip to the nation's capital, and we had a good time. I was SURE I had lost weight from all the walking (I know, that was silly), but upon our return home I discovered I had actually gained a pound. But I was so exhausted each night that I slept better than I have slept my entire pregnancy, so I really enjoyed that! Below is a picture of Matt & I enjoying a Washington Nationals vs. NY Mets game. The Mets dominated, but I really wanted the Nationals to win b/c we were at their home stadium (and I like their colors.)
So yesterday I had my 30-week appt at my OB's office. They ended up doing an impromptu ultrasound (they were concerned the baby may have too little fluid around him.) But fortunately everything looked fine, and the best part was that I got to see his sweet little face again! He is very cute, in my completely biased opinion :) The ultrasound tech pointed out how he really has some big pouty lips on him and even took a couple up close pictures of his lips for us. Don't know from whom he could've gotten those (OK, so I do!) But it will be interesting to see if he grows into them a little more before he is born. I really look forward to seeing my little guy!
Matt & I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary this past Tuesday (September 2nd.) We went to dinner at Valentino's and had a lovely evening. Can't believe how time is flying by, and now we're having a little baby! Here we are at our friend Brooke's birthday party last week (don't have one from the anniversary dinner, where I promise we were dressed a bit nicer.) We are at the Gerst Haus in the pic above, in case you are wondering about the origin of all the nice condiments in the forefront. Anyway, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, honey!
Several people have asked to see a picture of me with the baby bump, and I waited a little long to post one. I had my 24-week dr's appt today and was informed that I gained 6 1/2 lbs this past month. That is quite a large growth spurt! So needless to say, the first picture I post on here is just going to have to show me looking large. Oh well, I'm only 5'3". And I'm very grateful for the little (big) guy in there! And this picture was made at 7 AM this morning, so if I look goofy then let's just blame it on that :)
